First CCT PhD Network Seminar of 2025

Meet Dr. Julia Grimm, Assistant Professor of Management at Stockholm Business School (Stockholm University).

Julia earned her PhD from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Germany, with postdoc experiences spanning Cambridge University and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is no stranger to the thrills, spills, and chills of early academic life, and during our seminar, she will talk about something every PhD student really wants to know: How do you survive (and thrive!) in academia’s rollercoaster ride?

During some of the most intense moments of her academic journey—defending her dissertation, applying for postdocs, and navigating the postdoc years—Julia realized one game-changing truth: having a strong network is everything! She turned this insight into research with two peers, resulting in the paper: “Navigating Academia’s Stressful Waters: Discussing the Power of Horizontal Linkages for Early-Career Researchers.”

Julia will share real talk, practical tips, and survival strategies to help you build the right connections, support each other, and stay afloat in academia’s sometimes stormy seas.

☕ ⁉️ Grab a coffee, bring your questions, and get ready for an inspiring and insightful discussion with Dr. Julia Grimm!
